"Next Generation" Angel Network Hosts Monthly Meetings to Connect Early-Stage Start-Up Companies with Pre-Institutional Capital

LOS ANGELES, CALIF., February 28, 2006 - Maverick Angels, a new angel investment group, announced today the launch of its founding chapters in Los Angeles, Westlake Village and Santa Barbara. The Los Angeles Chapter's Inaugural Meeting will take place on Friday, March 31, at the headquarters of Nestle USA in Glendale, Calif., from 8:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. The Westlake Village Chapter's Inaugural Meeting will take place on Friday, March 24, at Sherwood Country Club in Thousand Oaks, Calif., from 8:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. The Santa Barbara Chapter's Inaugural Meeting will take place on Wednesday, March 22, at La Cumbre Country Club in Santa Barbara, Calif., from 8:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Venues for future meetings will be announced.

The new angel network is founded by John Dilts, who will serve as President of the Chapters and who formerly served as President of Keiretsu Forum Los Angeles and Westlake Village for the past two years. Maverick Angels has established close affiliations with other angel networks across the country and in Canada to share deal flow and best practices.

The Inaugural Meetings will include presentations from a select group of entrepreneurs seeking angel funding. During the meeting, there will be a presentation about Maverick Angels and its "next generation" approach, which seeks to blaze the trail for a new way of early-stage investing involving a closer relationship between investors and entrepreneurs.

As well as providing high-quality early-stage investment opportunities, Maverick Angels will also give members a more participatory experience than most angel networks. "The Maverick membership will work closely together to find, qualify and invest in early-stage companies relying on leading-edge collaborative software," says Dilts. The software, called MaverickLinkTM is proprietary to Maverick Angels and will provide members with real-time updates about the status of pending investments under consideration by the group. MaverickLinkTM will also track the due diligence progress and current news provided by presenting companies.

According to Dilts, Maverick Angels is a very different kind of angel investor network. Its philosophy is that of taking an "entrepreneurial approach" to angel investing to create win-win results with portfolio companies. Maverick Angels believes in a more holistic strategy for angel investing. "We understand the fundamental partnership which exists between the investors and entrepreneurs," explains Dilts. "As serial entrepreneurs ourselves, we understand that if we better serve the needs of entrepreneurs, our interests will be better-served as investors, resulting in a higher return on our investments. This is the reason why we call it an 'entrepreneurial approach' to early-stage investing - an angel network which is more entrepreneurial in both our style and focus," says Dilts.

Educational programs for entrepreneurs as well as for members are also a priority for Maverick Angels. The Maverick Angels Boot Camp for Entrepreneurs^SM will begin on Friday, April 7, at the Maverick Angels offices in Agoura Hills and quarterly 3-day entrepreneur certification workshops are scheduled to begin on Friday, April 28th. Also, the Maverick Academy^SM series of seminars has been created to address specific topics relating to early-stage investing which are of interest to our members.

In addition to investment and mentoring, Maverick Angels will also devote much attention to philanthropic endeavors via the Maverick Angels Charitable Foundation^SM, a non-profit organization. "We believe that we have a responsibility to give back to our communities," says Dilts. "That is what entrepreneurship is all about - contributing to achieve something beyond yourself."

According to Dilts, a strong social events calendar will be a highlight of the group as well. "Of course, we will hold plenty of dinners, mixers and other parties, such as the Maverick Supper Club^SM, to encourage our members to get together and have some fun," says Dilts. "We enjoy each other's company."
