For many first-time angel investors, the process of early-stage investing can be a bit mysterious and even daunting. We have created a seminar series for our members and prospective members to help simplify the angel-investing process. Seasoned professionals from the legal and financial industry sponsor and present each of the Maverick Academy seminars. Free attendance at the seminars is a benefit of Maverick Angels membership. Our members enjoy socializing together to create closer bonds and establish long-term friendships. Having fun is a key value of our network. As a result, we have created the Maverick Supper Club to bring together members from our various chapters to enable them to become better acquainted in a relaxed environment. Members are encouraged to bring their spouses to the Supper Club events, which are typically held at a top-rated restaurant, hotel or a private residence in the Greater Los Angeles, Westlake Village or Santa Barbara area. Maverick Supper Club dates will be announced periodically throughout the year. We thank our many Maverick Supper Club sponsors for their support.

We have developed a very powerful collaborative on-line software tool which enables our members to work together in real time when considering early-stage investment opportunities. MaverickLink is a database-driven software which supports the Maverick Angels investment process from start to finish. The software allows members to have an ongoing view into the status of pending deals with the benefit of highly qualitative information, such as:

1. A monthly line-up of new presenter offerings
2. A listing displaying which members are interested in certain deals
3. A list of each member's level of interest in each deal
4. The amount of investment each member has committed and the time of commitment
5. Real-time reporting on total investments made per investor and for the entire network
6. Due diligence tracking
7. Company updates and status of investment terms

There are numerous benefits to becoming a Maverick Angel as well as many activities and events to attend. As a result, we ask that each new member attend a Maverick New Member Welcome lunch to learn about membership benefits and responsibilities and become fully engaged with the Maverick Angels processes. Each new member will receive a Maverick Angels Manual which will serve as an all-purpose reference guide as they are welcomed into the network.

Charitable-giving should be an important priority for any organization. We established the Maverick Angels Foundation to facilitate donations by our members to worthy charitable causes. We are focused on giving back to our communities as much as possible in an effort to help others who are less fortunate. A percentage of all proceeds of Maverick Angels is contributed to the Foundation each year. Fundraisers are also held throughout the year in conjunction with other Maverick Angels activities. The Maverick Angels Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation.

In order to become a Maverick Angel, you must be an "Accredited Investor" as that term is defined in Regulation D under the Securities Act of 1933 and under other applicable securities laws and regulations. Members must submit a Maverick Angels Membership Application which includes their net worth as well as their investment experience, investment frequency, level of investment sophistication and work history. Members are preferably sponsored by another member. We encourage and welcome prospective members to attend our open events in order to consider becoming a member of Maverick Angels. Prospective members may attend up to two Arena and/or Line-Up meetings.

Member applicants must meet with our Membership Committee for a brief interview and will be subject to a vote of the Committee before receiving an invitation to become a member of Maverick Angels.
